To line-up the colour monitor to bars.
These are SMPTE bars that show a 4x3 and 16x9 image.
At the bottom right you can see the grey bars.
The one on the far right must be visible, while the others must not.
Use the brightness knob to adjus, make sure the room is dark or use blackout.
